Los manuscritos originales que representa a la Biblia en la antigüedad se cree que se han escrito en hebreo antiguo (Antiguo Testamento) y el griego antiguo (Nuevo Testamento).
Estos alfabetos uso muchas cartas que no existen en nuestro alfabeto moderno.
Una manera de crear una versión para imprimir es el llamado Texto romanizada.
Para ilustrar lo que esto sólo material original de la Biblia es como, una parte del Génesis se muestra a continuación en la forma romanizada.
Ninguno de los manuscritos originales reales parecen todavía existen en la actualidad.
En general, las Biblias modernas se basan en muchas copias de los manuscritos real, y muy pocos de los ejemplares tienen más de alrededor de 1000 años.

El original hebreo antiguo en el que el Antiguo Testamento fue escrito, habría sido escrito sin vocales que se está grabando.
Por ejemplo, se refiere a Dios como JHWH en la Biblia.
Cuando el Antiguo Testamento fue traducido al griego (en la Septuaginta), se añadieron las vocales, de hacer palabras que fueron significativos en el idioma griego.
Desde JHWH fue aparentemente unpronouncable, pueblo antiguo utilizado varios otros nombres para referirse a Dios, una de las cuales era Adonai.
Los vocales de este nombre se inserta entre las cartas de JHWH para crear un Nombre de nosotros nos referimos a como Jehová.
Manuscritos griegos fueron, también, algo difícil de traducir, ya que fueron escritos con todas las letras del mismo tamaño y sin espacios entre palabras o frases.
